SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 8 5/8" CALIBER 42 SMOOTHBORE MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1820. Brass barreled and brass mounted single shot flintlock pistol with barrel marked "P 7 D MOLL ALLENTOWN" with "C. BIRD & Co PHILAD, WARRANTED" marked lock. Faux striped maple stock with violin finish. Brass but cap with bordered brass stirrups. Dual wedge barrel retention with German silver escutcheons. The Moll family is truly a landmark family in the PA, Lehigh valley firearms trade. Peter & David Moll moved from Allentown to Hellertown in the early 1820's. Sons and grandchildren of John Moll and his father John Moll senior. Known for their brass barreled pistols and sporting rifles P&D Moll ceases to exist in the 1850' era. CONDITION, Good as found and uncleaned. The brass barrel and fittings remain in tarnish with crisp legible legends. The Faux striped maple stock is good with small period of use impressions and bruises and a deep dent at top of wrist but retains its original violin finish. The lock while fully operable has a broken top jaw. ANTIQUE
