(Disneyland, 1957) An original concept painting by Eyvind Earle for the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough attraction at Disneyland. When Walt Disney tasked his Imagineers with creating a centerpiece attraction for his Park, they opted for a Castle walkthrough attraction featuring dioramas that would tell the story of Sleeping Beauty, which was still in production at the time. Walt entrusted Eyvind Earle, who served as production designer and color stylist for the feature film, to create a series of color concept paintings of potential tableaus to be viewed through stone arches as guests walked through the inner Castle. This stunning original painting is one of Earle's early concepts for the walkthrough. The painting measures an impressive 13"x21" and is in very fine condition. It is accomplished in gouache on art board and has been signed by Earle at the lower right. The artifact of Disney Studio and Disneyland history has been archival framed for a beautiful presentation.
