Last year's piece was an American Flag, this year's work - created specifically for this event - will also be patriotic in nature, reflecting the spirit of those JSSOF has the opportunity to serve thanks to generous donations.

About the Artist:
Evelyn McGowan is an artist, from Texas, living in Washington D.C. with over 15 years of artistic experience with mediums ranging from charcoal, to ink, oil paints, wood carving, acrylics, mixed media, and more.
Her most notable collection of work is a thirteen piece study of the Vietnam War.
Across two and a half years, Evelyn created large scale oil paintings on wood, combining text and imagery to convey the plight of those who fought in Vietnam.
These pieces uniquely include quotes from inscribed Vietnam era zippo lighters and images from the War to capture the mixed emotions and experiences of those who served.
Evelyn attributes her artistic success to the encouragement of her parents and several skilled art teachers.
She now primarily experiments with mixed media collages, often using colorful fabrics and heavy body acrylic.
