(1960s) Here it is! Your chance to add some serious Tiki mana to your bar or backyard paradise. The Hawaiian Hut was an incredible-kitchy restaurant, lounge and theatrical showroom in Honolulu at Waikiki Ala Moana Hotel. It was famous since it opened in the 1960s Poly-Pop boom featuring a "world-renown prime rib buffet" and it's serious Polyneisan Floor Show a'la MAI-KAI. The place was oozing incredible carved artifacts and decor from the entire Pacific Rim...all the islands featured in the floor show. It closed abruptly in 2009 and very quickly, what wasn't unceremoniously tossed in the trash, was snatched up by collectors. We have two massive Tikis from this location and one is unlikely to find anything else quite on this level. The design is a highly stylized Marquesan god with accents in black and yellow as were the colors of the Hawaiian Hut in probably the 1980s. This (and the other large post in this sale) flanked the interior covered gardens of the hotel that led to the Hawaiian Hut. These were rescued by GECKO and then transported to Los Angeles by Jordan where they were on display for many years. Very rare piece of Tiki history. *Special shipping considerations. *BOOZE CAVE COLLECTION. VG+ with typical wear. 118"x9"x9".
