Cal. about 50. NSN. Bbl. 32 1/4" rnd. of damascus steel w/ cannonade blunderbuss muzzle. 7" At breech end of bbl. & 5" at muzzle have exquisite vine type floral silver inlay. Early form of the miquelet lock as developed in Spain in the 16th century. Lock & external parts have engraved silver inlay w/ beaded borders. Hammer & lock parts have decorative orange beads that may be coral. 1 Piece full length stock is held by 4 engraved brass bands & 2 keys. Iron ramrod. Stock has extensive German silver pierced & segmented arabesque scroll inlay that extends to raised area around top tang. CONDITION: bbl. has mottled gray/brown appearance w/ areas of corrosion. Lock & surrounding areas have a dark corroded appearance w/ light pitting. Stock has age darkened appearance showing cracks & chips. Stock keys are missing. 1 Bbl. band shows separation. Sections of inlay are missing around lower portion of butt. Dark pitted bore. (01-17705/DS). ANTIQUE. $900-1,500.
