Cal. about 58. NSN. Bbl. 12 1/4" brass w/ flutes extended from breech end. Smooth bore. Integral semi circular front sight. Brass lock w/ iron hammer. Bbl., lock & hammer have generous coverage of foliate scroll hand engraving w/ fancy borders. Plain trigger. Pin fastened walnut stock w/ extensive relief carving & lock sideplate, tang, forearm & bottom areas. Brass fittings include butt cap, trigger guard, pierced sideplate & decorative shield on wrist. Fittings have deep relief engraving w/ oval portraits. Replacement hardwood ramrod held by brass faceted thimble & a single pipe. CONDITION: brass has acquired a mild tarnish. Stock shows light wear w/ scattered handling marks. Dark pitted bore. (01-17703/DS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
