Overall length: 17 3/4". Blade length: 10". This knife is very similar to known examples of Cheyenne dag knives. Blade is obviously forged from a lg. bastard file & has a raised medial ridge on 1 side. Wooden 1 piece hilt appears to be oak & has brass tack decoration at the guard, pommel & sides of the grip. No sheath. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina & shows remains of file cuts not obliterated in the reforging process. Hilt has 4 sm. cracks, likely from drying, at the base near the blade. 1 Tack is missing. Wood shows moderate wear w/ staining around the edge of the handle where the blade enters. (02-13349/BF). $1,000-2,000.
