A custom active stage monitor wedge built exclusively for Muse — one of only two ever produced by Dickinson Amps — owned and stage-used by Matt Bellamy during live performances from November 2012 through April 2014, encompassing arena tours, major international festival appearances, and globally televised events. The monitor retains its original internal speaker configuration and is preserved in its original custom rolling flight case. This stage monitor — originally fitted on a stand for spinning effect — was a central stage artifact during this era as Bellamy would play into it for feedback and smash his guitar against it for theatrics during live shows.

Historical Context
Muse are a British rock band formed in Teignmouth, Devon in 1994, comprising Matt Bellamy (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass), and Dominic Howard (drums). By the early 2010s, the band had established themselves as one of the most consistently ambitious live acts in the world, known for large-scale theatrical productions integrating orchestral arrangements, custom-built instrumentation, and sophisticated stage design.
The 2nd Law touring cycle (2012-2014) represented one of the most technically complex productions of their career, incorporating a hybridised live setup of traditional backline, digital processing systems, and bespoke monitoring and amplification configurations tailored to individual performances.
Dickinson Amps is a UK-based boutique amplification and speaker fabrication company founded and operated by Jon Dickinson. The two custom monitor wedges produced for Muse were purpose-built to Bellamy's performance requirements and represent the final iteration in the evolution of his Dickinson stage-monitoring configuration during this era — preceded by a MkII combo used for recording, followed by MkII combo speaker cabinets mounted on a rotating stand, before transitioning to the custom floor-monitor wedges documented here. No commercial equivalent or catalog version of this design has ever existed.
Stage & Performance Use
This monitor wedge was deployed during select arena performances and major international festival appearances between November 2012 and April 2014. According to direct correspondence with Jon Dickinson (January 2026), the units were used by Bellamy both as onstage monitors and as deliberate feedback-generation tools during live performances — a functional role extending beyond conventional stage monitoring. Visual documentation confirms that Dickinson systems were deployed selectively across this period based on stage design and production requirements rather than as fixed backline across all shows.
Archival material from Dickinson Amplification dated November 29, 2012 documents the completion of two custom "MUSE monitors," with the earliest confirmed onstage appearance identified at the O2 Arena in Prague on November 22, 2012.
Example documented onstage appearances:
· November 22, 2012 · O2 Arena, Prague, Czech Republic (earliest confirmed appearance)
· February 18, 2013 · O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, London (War Child BRITs Week 20th Anniversary Show)
· June 2, 2013 · Horse Guards Parade Ground, London (World War Z Premiere Performance)
· September 9, 2013 · Parque Olímpico Cidade do Rock, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Rock in Rio)
· September 20, 2013 · MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada (iHeart Music Festival)
· October 4 & 11, 2013 · Zilker Metropolitan Park, Austin, Texas (Austin City Limits)
· April 5, 2014 · Autódromo José Carlos Pace, São Paulo, Brazil (Lollapalooza Brasil)
· April 12 & 19, 2014 · Empire Polo Field, Indio, California (Coachella) (latest confirmed appearance)
At the War Child BRITs Week performance, Bellamy brought the closing performance of "Plug In Baby" to a climactic conclusion by smashing his guitar against this monitor — a moment captured in contemporaneous footage of the event and among the most widely documented incidents of stage use associated with this specific object. No onstage use of this wedge has been confirmed after April 2014.
Photo-Match
This monitor is photo-matched to the World War Z Premiere performance at Horse Guards Parade Ground, London (June 2, 2013) through a distinct dent present on the upper-right front framing of the enclosure, visible in contemporaneous performance photography taken by the current owner at the event. The same dent is identifiable on the unit as currently preserved, establishing a direct visual correspondence between dated performance photography and the physical object offered here.
A dedicated photo-match graphic is included in the photographic documentation accompanying this listing.

Rarity
Jon Dickinson, founder and builder at Dickinson Amps, has confirmed in direct correspondence with the current owner (January 2026) that only two of these custom monitor wedges were produced, and that both were built specifically for Muse. No catalog listing, model designation, or production variant exists for this design outside of those two units. Dickinson further publicly acknowledged this in a post to the official Dickinson Amps Facebook page (March 2026): "Had a guy get in touch who has one of the monitor cabs we made for Muse and was writing a piece on it. Nice to chat about it and try to remember what we did." (View Dickinson Amps Facebook Post)
