Shah Jahan (1628-1658 AD), copper fulus, the Nizam Shahi standard, counter-struck on a Nizamshahi coin, Dharur mint, 9.50g. Obv: Farsi legend Shah Jahan Zarb Dharoor. Rev: Farsi legend Shuhur Fi Sanah.

Very fine, Extremely rare.

The fortress of Dharur was won for the Mughals by 'Azam Khan during the 7-year long campaign against the Nizamshahi sultanate of Ahmednagar. A mint was operated here soon after the Mughal conquest in response to economic conditions. The short-lived minting activity makes Dharur one of the rarest mints of Shahjahan for copper coins.
