Makhtal, also spelled as Makthal, is a mandala in Narayanpett district. A mint operated here, probably under the Raja of Narayanpett, who was feudatory to the Nizam of Haidarabad, during the decade of uncertainty and succession disputes following the death of Asaf Jah I. It is one of the rarest of the later Mughal mints.
