Akbar (1556-1605 AD) - silver ½ rupee, mintless and dateless type, similar to KM 91.1 but fraction, 5.30g. Obv: Allahu Akbar. Rev: Jal Jalalahu, variety with letter Jim of 'Jal' extended into a long stroke, floral decorative fields on both sides.

Very fine, Extremely rare.

The type was introduced by Akbar soon after AH 990, to herald the 'timeless' Islamic Millenium, in which he would be the 'Khalifah' or supreme leader. On a practical level, it helped counter the discounting of older coins by shroffs who relied on the date mentioned on the coin to apply it. Fractional issues of this type are exceedingly rare.
