About extremely fine, Exceedingly rare

Akbar initiated a coinage without a date and mint soon after AH990, the year in which he celebrated the 'Islamic Millennium'. However, within a few years, this was not deemed to be such a good idea and gradually, these features reappeared on his coins. By now, the official reckoning had been changed to the 'Ilahi Era' calculated from Akbar's accession and the earliest instance of it appearing was as a counterstamp on a dateless and mintless issue of a specific type, with legends inscribed in a double rectangular border with curvy lines in margins. This coin is a continuation of the same type, but with the Ilahi year 33 added into the design of the die. It is, according to the 'Ain-i-Akbari, a mohur named L'al Jalali, which was worth 10 rupees and heavier than the normal mohurs, worth 9 rupees. The only other instance of this type known is a half heavy mohur, sold at Baldwin's Auctuion 89 for £11000 in 2014, but it does not show the full Ilahi year (see Zeno#175427)
