Very fine, Extremely rare.

Raghuji Bhonsla of Nagpur had occupied Orissa in May 1748 and appointed Sabaji Bhonsla as the Maratha governor. Alivardi Khan, the Nawab of Bengal, launched his bid to recover Orissa and marched on the Marathas defeating them at Midnapur on 5th March 1749. He carried on and reached Katak on 16th March 1749 and occupied it by end of May 1749. The Marathas retreated in the jungles near Katak. However, as soon as Alivardi Khan left Katak, it was re-occupied by Marathas. It is likely that this coin was struck by the Nawab during this brief interlude.
