Model 1826 U.S. Naval Cutlass, by Nathan Starr, featuring a curved, narrow single fuller blade with ''U.S., N.STARR'' stamped at the base, and a faint inspector's mark on reverse. Wooden handle grip with round grooves and a minor chip at the top and bottom. Steel solid basket handguard with curved quillion. No scabbard. A rare cutlass with only 2000 produced in this contract. Condition is fair with heavy rust patina and a couple of edge nicks to the blade. The guard has a heavy rust patina, with pitting overall. Wood grip has a nice dark patina with the noted small chips top and bottom. Handle and guard are nice and tight. Blade measures 25'' and OAL is 31''. Est.: $1,000-$1,500.
