Kalachuris of Ratanpur, Yashoraja, Gold Masha, 3.62g, Obv: Warrior carrying a straight-bladed sword in ‘Veera’ posture, facing turning back to right, small animal motifs to left and right of his head, Rev: Devnagari legend in two lines “Shri Madyaso / Raja Deva” (Unpublished in major sources). Extremely fine, exceedingly rare.
Yashoraja has been identified as a feudatory ruler under the Kalachuris of Ratanpur. He is known from an inscription found at Sahaspur, located about 12 miles from Kawardha, in Chhattisgarh State. This inscription is dated in S.934, or AD1182. His coins are exceedingly rare with only a few pieces known.
