The Matsyas was an ancient dynasty of Mahakoshala region about which very little information is available. They served as feudatories to Chalukyas of Kalyani and to the Chhindaka Nagas of Chakrakota (Bastar) at various times. The attribution of this unique kind of gadyana is based on the tentative find spot of the coins. They appear to be struck to two denominations of full and half gadyanas.
