Western Kshatrapas, Karddamaka dynasty, silver drachm of Vijayasena as Mahakshatrapa (239-251 AD), undated, so -called 'Bombay' type series, 1.87g. Obv: Profile bust of king facing right. Rev: Dynastic emblem in centre; Brahmi legend Rajño Mahakshatrapasa Damasenaputrasa Rajño Mahakshatrapasa Vijayasenasa around.
Extremely fine, Rare.
The so-called 'Bombay' series of coins of the Western Kshatrapas is distinct for its lower weight, debased contents and different execution of motifs. Constituent rulers include Damasena, Vijayasena and Viradaman and the coins of the last two are extremely rare.
