Chhindaka Nagas of Chakrakota - gold punch-marked gadyana of Someshvara Deva (c.1000-1100 AD), scyphate shape and repousse fabric, 3.63g. Obv: a central punch depicting a small tiger facing left, sun and moon above; Kannada legend Sri, Sri, A, Na, Na, Si(n), Ga, Ma punched as eight individual punches along the rim. Rev: negative impressions of obverse punches.

The Chhindaka Naga dynasty ruled from Chakrakota (present day Barsur) in Western Orissa/Chhattisgarh region. Someshvara Deva declared to have defeated “the Udra king (ruler of Orissa) and captured six lakhs and ninety-six villages of Kosala (Chattisgarh)”. His title 'Anana-singama' means he was 'like a lion to his elder brother'.
