Maghas of Kaushambi - alloyed coin of Vasishthiputra Shivamagha (c.200-250 AD), unlisted in major publications, 2.11g. Obv: three-arched hill and tree-in-railing; Brahmi legend reading anticlockwise outwards around (Rajño) Vasishthipu(tra)…. Rev: humped bull standing right.

Good very fine, Rare.

The metronymic 'Son of Vasisthi' suggests Shivamagha to be the issuer of this coin as indicated by terracotta sealings in his name. The general features of the coin are in line with Magha issues, but the occurrence of circular legend is a feature borrowed from earlier monarchical issues of Kaushambi.
