REVOLVER. Cal. 44-40. S# 3081. Bbl. 3 1/2" rnd. w/ integral semi circular front sight & shroud. Unusual action, bbl. & cyl. rotate to right & slide forward for loading. Early open top model w/ bird's head lanyard ring at butt. 6 Shot scoop fluted cyl. Nickel finish w/ case colored trigger guard, trigger & hammer. 2 Piece checkered hard rubber grips. Right side of frame marked "MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. N.Y. / POCKET ARMY". Left side of frame marked "CALIBRE / WINCHESTER / 1873". Estimated quantity of several thousand 1876-mid 1880's. CONDITION: 85% nickel showing spots of flaking. Trigger guard, hammer & trigger show some lightly visible case colors. Right grip panel is chipped along front grip strap. Bore is dark & pitted retaining intact worn rifling. (01-16923/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,750-2,750.
