(1961) An incredible "Janus" style Tiki railing post custom created for the Marriott KONA KAI flagship location in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Designed by ace commercial decor designer, George Nakashima for Armet & Davis, the Kona Kai is perhaps one of the MOST elaborately outfitted Polynesian restaurants and bars in the world. What we have here is a salvaged railing post, saved from the building destruction in the mid-1980s. The post was used in location and features "cut ins" and other evidence from use in situ at the venue. These are incredibly hard to come by and come from the Jordan Reichek "NO FALSE IDOLS" Collection sold in 2017 at La Luz De Jesus in Hollywood. Subsequently, that collection was purchased for inclusion to MAX'S SOUTH SEAS HIDEAWAY. *From the MAX' SOUTH SEAS HIDEAWAY Collection. The piece is accompanied with a signed letter of authenticity by Max's owner, Mark Sellers and Peekaboo Gallery owner, Jordan Reichek. 39"x6". VG+ with general wear from construction use in the building architecture. Please be aware this is a decor used item.
