Cal. 22 LR. S# 7191556. Bbl. 24" tapered oct. w/ Micro-Groove rifling having "JM" proof mark on right flat. No other mfg. markings are visible on bbl. Bead front sight w/ elevator adj. sporting rear sight. Full length mag. Nicely grained walnut forearm & pistol grip stock w/ Marlin plastic buttplate & grip cap having white line spacers. Toeline of stock has Marlin trademark. Marlin marked leather sling. S# indicates 1971 mfg. The 39 oct. was similar to the Golden 39A except for the oct. bbl. Records show that 2,551 oct. bbl. 39A were mfg. in 1973 only, these had standard bbl. markings. Pre-production prototype of the 39 Octagon? UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: signed letter from Lt. Col. Brophy's daughter regarding this lot. CONDITION: over 98% blue w/ 1 open screw hole on top of frame. Stocks have good original finish showing scattered marks. Bore is bright w/ sound rifling. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Lt. Col. William S. Brophy. (19-5589/DS). MODERN. $500-1,000.
