DEMO LOT
Kushan Dynasty, Huvishka (160-190 CE), Gold Dinar, "MAO"(Moon God Aglibol) type, Mint Balkh?, Obv: a diademed and half-length crowned bust facing the left, holding a mace-scepter in one hand and an elephant-goad (ankush) in the other hand, the Bactrian legend "þAONANOþAO OOηþKI KOþANO" (King of Kings Huvishka the Kushan) around the field, Rev: the lunar deity Mao standing facing the left, in left hand holding a sword, lunar horns at the shoulders and a tamgha on the left field, the Bactrian legend in stylized reverse arrangement “MAO” on the right field, a dotted border around the field, 7.749g, 20.85mm, (Gobl # 347), about very fine, Exceedingly Rare.

Note: An iconographic representation of the Moon-God Abligol is depicted on the reverse of this coin, which dates back to ancient Syria and is located on a principal trading route. It appears that the Oriental gods are dressed in a very Roman-looking military uniform.

In Greek mythology, the gods were frequently depicted in threes or triads. Moon God Yarhibol worshipped in the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, along with Bel and Malakbel, formed a trinity with the sun god Bel and Yarhibol.
