Overall length: 38 1/2". Blade length: 32 1/4". Plain blade w/ a single lg. fuller. Iron hilt w/ "D / 7" engraved on the languet. Black lacquered wood grips w/ "ears" on both sides emanating from the back strap. Iron scabbard engraved at the top "14 - LD" & "D / 7". The 14th Light Dragoons has a long history in the British Army including extensive service against the French during the Napoleonic Wars particularly during the Peninsula Campaign. CONDITION: blade has a light gray cleaned finish w/ some evidence of cleaned pitting & a few nicks on the edge. Hilt has been cleaned but is beginning to have a pleasing patina. Grip shows light wear w/ 97% finish remaining. Scabbard is undamaged & has a light gray, cleaned, mottled finish. (02-13371/BF). $800-1,200.
