Lot of Two (2) Antique Japanese Fuchi/Kashira Sets: (1) Village Leaves & Vines, ca. Edo period, late 18th to early 19th Century. Nice matched set of shakudo/nanako and gold, fuchi and kashira handle fittings. The theme is a Japanese village with houses, and vines and leaves intertwined above. The nanako stippled background is very fine and well executed. The gold overlaid houses are in medium high relief with fine details to the thatched roofs. There are also details of woven cloth hanging to dry. The vines and leaves are done in gold, copper, and silver. The two pieces feature gold rims around the perimeters. There are fine stippled gold shitodome eyelets in the kashira. The set is mumei (unsigned). The fuchi measures 3.9cm x 2.4cm x 1.2cm and the kashira measures 3.4cm x 1.8cm x .85cm. Condition is excellent showing a nice dark patina to the shakudo surface, only minor light wear to the high edges of the gold overlaid details, and tiny pinprick losses to the gold border edges on both pieces. In wood storage box. (2) Teapot & Leaves, ca. Edo period, Late 18th to early 19th Century. Nice matched set of shakudo/nanako and gold, fuchi and kashira handle fittings. The design is a Japanese tea pot hanging from a branch surrounded by leaves, branches, and pine cones, done in gold overlay. There are smooth copper shitodome eyelets in the kashira. The workmanship is good with nice details to the gold work. The fuchi measures 3.8cm x 2.3cm x .85cm, and the kashira measures 3.5cm x 1.8cm x .7cm. They are mumei(unsigned). Condition is very good, the shakudo having a nice dark patina with light oxidation, very minor marks and dings from use, and only minor wear to the gold overlaid details. In wood storage box.
