A hand-drawn poster concept illustration from the promotion of Stanley Kubrick's sword-and-sandals epic Spartacus. Kubrick replaced original director Anthony Mann, and ultimately guided the film to win four Academy Awards. This half-sheet concept illustration was acquired from the estate of Universal-International art department illustrator David Shane.

The illustration is rendered in mixed media, including color pencils and ink on illustration paper. It features the unused tagline "REBEL AGAINST ROME!" with no director or screenwriter listed, suggesting this was a very early concept piece.

The illustration is in fair overall condition with stains and wear along the edges, as well as subtle vertical creasing from being folded.
