Extremely rare WWII German complete field hospital surgical kit dated 1939. The dark gray painted case measures approx. 20" x 12" x 6 1/2" & is stenciled on the top, “Sammelbesteck 1939”. There are 2 carrying handles on the side & 2 recessed opening latches on the front. The inside lid has a lg. card bearing an inventory of the kit & the words, “Sammelbesteck 1939” along w/ the maker “CHIRON TUTTLINGEN”. The case is filled w/ a multitude of implements, tool, devices housed in removable trays on several different levels. There are even compartments that hold metal boxes full of surgical silk. It would be hard to imagine a more complete or all encompassing set. CONDITION: the outside of the box shows light wear overall. The inside lid & the inventory card have scattered rust stains but the card remains quite legible. Interior markings on bandages, gauze, silk, etc. are crisp & legible. A fantastic find for the WWII medical collector. (02-14410/BF). $1,500-2,500.
