Cal. 50. NSN. Bbl. 41 1/2" oct. measuring 7/8" across flats at muzzle. Dovetail mounted replacement blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight w/ added ghost ring tang sight. Engraved trade lock marked "R.A. PARRISH" . Plain trigger. Full length maple stock held by 4 keys. Stock has Roman nose style comb as produced in Schulkill County PA & surrounding area. Toeline & ramrod channel are bordered by incise carving. Cheekpiece has 4 carved grooves. Foliate scroll carving is found between cheekpiece & buttplate. Brass furniture consists of engraved segmented rectangular lid patchbox, crescent buttplate, toeplate, finger rest trigger guard, sideplate & nose cap. German silver 8 point star is above the cheekpiece. Top of wrist has cutout for missing heart shape inlay. Hickory ramrod is held by brass thimble & 2 brass pipes. CONDITION: bbl. & lock have dark patina appearance w/ pitting in breech area. Bbl. shows some wrench marks. Stock shows wear w/ scratches & handling marks having sm. cracks & chips around sideplate, lock & key escutcheon areas. Toe of stock shows cracks & chips. Brass shows evidence of past cleaning. Bore is dark w/ intact rifling showing some very light pitting. (01-17462/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
