Cal. 30-06. S# B1650. Bbl. 21 3/4" w/ bayonet lug. Very nice example of a Johnson military rifle. Adj. aperture rear sight graduated to 1,000m. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Receiver is marked on right rear w/ "CRANSTON ARMS CO" in triangle surmounted by star as Dutch contract acceptance mark. Receiver is additionally marked on top " "JOHNSON AUTOMATICS" Cal. 30-'06 SEMI AUTO MODEL OF 1941". Markings have been enhanced in white. Author Bruce N. Canfield states in "Johnson Rifles & Machine Guns", that parts numbers were not matched at factory during mfg. Bbl. is marked on top over chamber "J.A. 30-'06". Marked below chamber w/ S#. Bbl. is additionally marked w/ S#, Dutch proof mark & "J". Unmarked original walnut stock w/ checkered steel buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked 8" triangular bayonet. Original leather scabbard marked "370". Bayonet has lightly worn original finish. Scabbard has wear, scuffing & flexing, stitching appears tight. Unmarked vintage US Model 1907 style sling, sliding keepers not present. Sling has wear scuffing & flexing. CONDITION: original finish walnut stock. Buttstock has professionally repaired approx. 6" crack on left side extending forward from receiver tang. Stock has light wear & handling marks commensurate w/ careful service use. Metal has 90% original finish w/ light high point wear & scattered light handling marks. Very good shiny bore. (19-5968/RW). CURIO. $4,000-6,000.
