Cal. approx. 50. NSN. This is an honest complete & original example of an ornate Japanese matchlock. 45” Overall. Bbl. 33” tapered oct. w/ flared oct. muzzle. Bbl. is inset w/ silver & copper inlays including a dragon & kanji. The top of the bbl. is fitted w/ block rear sight, missing front sight, fitted w/ flash pan & hinged cover. Brass lock contains long brass hammer & spring. Varnished stock has decorative & functional brass insets including many which are chrysanthemum shaped, brass triggerguard & ball style trigger. CONDITION: good overall, appears complete & original. Hizara & hibuta (flash pan and cover) are loose but attached. Bbl. is plum/gray patina w/ engraved & inset decoration discernible. All stock inlays are intact. There is a 12" x 1/2" inset repair to stock on left side opposite lock. Mechanics are functional, bore is smooth & pitted. (01-17221/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
