BARREL 2 5/8". CALIBER .41. Type of derringer used by John Wilkes Booth. Barrel is stamped PHILADa. Lock is stamped with the name J.P. LOWER. In 1872 Lower moved to Denver and three years later bought out the gun shop of brothers Frank and George Freund in Denver. He is one of the most noted gun dealers in the old west. Gun has nickel plated brass accents and trigger guard. Part octagon barrel with checkered walnut stock. Condition. Barrel is soft patina with strong barrel legend. Lock is lightly engraved and the Lower stamp is bold. Retains 95% nickel. Stock is excellent with sharp checkering but one small 1/2" stress crack on right side at muzzle. Fine working order. ANTIQUE
