SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 2 1/2" CALINER .35 PERCUSSION MANUFACTURED 1850-1865., James E Evans of South Street Philadelphia regarded and advertised himself as a gunsmith and firearms dealer. His unlicensed copies of the Henry Deringer pistol are one of few that deviated in caliber and stock design. This example with 35 caliber rifled bore and marked "J.E.EVANS PHILa" on top barrel flat. Birds Head walnut stock is mounted with German silver furniture in the Deringer form. The stock tip is done in a small schnable design. Dovetail blade front sight. CONDITION, Very fine with sock retains most all varnish ands sharp checking. Lock and barrel are very good with crisp legends and sharp engraving. Bore is good and action operates properly. ANTIQUE
