JOSEPH ALLEN CRAGIN built custom half stock percussion target rifles in Pittsburgh from 1842-1857. Barrel is stamped J. Craig Pittsburg. Lock is stamped Whitmore & Wolfe Pittsburgh. 1837-1852 lock makers only. Heavy octagon 41.5" barrel, 40 caliber percussion back action lock, double set triggers, stripped maple half stock, pewter tip, oak rod, globe front sight, long tang adjustable rear peep sight, with brass trigger guard and butt plate. Comes with a 3/4" tube scope made of brass and painted black with adjustable mounts. Clear standard cross hair optics. Condition. Entire rifle is in superb condition. Excellent stock but does have a crack under fore end that can easily be fixed, , barrel finish is dull with two fresher sight holes above maker name. Nice engraving on lock. Working order. ANTIQUE
