Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare.

The 'Single Swami' or 'Porto Novo' pagoda was a commercial coin par excellence and almost every colonial power operating on the Coromandel Coast struck its own variety. Demand and supply dynamics meant that not every Company was successful in this venture and consequently, the French and the Danish pagodas of this type are very rare. The 'Single Swami' issue was followed by the 'Three Swami’ design by the French.
