Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Peshwas - silver rupee, in the name of Shah Alam II, Khujista Bunyad mint (by style and as a pseudo-mint name), with inverted Nagari legend 'Ram' on the reverse, not listed in M&W, 11.00g.

About extremely fine, Very rare.

Khujista Bunyad (Aurangabad) was the secondary capital of the Nizam of Hyderabad, the main adversary of the Marathas in 18th century. It is possible that in the borderlands of these two authorities, an unknown Maratha mint operated striking coins that look like the Nizam's issues but incorporating religious features, like the name of Lord Rama, which ostensibly could not have been on coins of the Nizam, in order to differentiate them.
