Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Peshwas - silver rupee, in the name of Shah Alam II, Gulshanabad mint (visible nearly full), M&W T3, symbols of sun face, bow-and-arrow and bael leaf on reverse, 11.28g.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

The variety with the 'sun face' in the 'S' of 'Manus', the bow and arrow in the 'S' of 'Julus' and a bael leaf in the 'N' of the mint-name is one of the rarest varieties of rupees minted at Nasik (Gulshanabad) during the Maratha rule. The mint at this time was run as a government venture with Lakshman Appaji as the mint-master.
