Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Patwardhan family - silver rupee in the name of Shah Alam II as 'Shah Gauhar', Qasbah Rahimatpur mint, RY7, not listed in M&W, 11.30g. Mint name is mostly off flan but can be identify by the placement of word Qasbah near Jalus on reverse.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

Rahimatpur, a market town of distinction, belonged to the jagir of Parashuram Bhau Patwardhan, a noted Maratha general and statesman of late 18th century and a staunch supporter of the Peshwas. The RY on the coin is reckoned with the accession of Peshwa Madhav Rao II. The epithet 'Qasbah' refers to the commercial importance of the town, particularly in the upper Krishna valley.
