Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Angres - silver rupee, struck during the reign of Sambhaji Angre (1733-1742 AD) as the admiral of Maratha navy, in the name of Muhammad Shah, Rajapur mint, 11.33g.

Several punches and crack in flan, Fine, Very rare.

The mint at Rajapur was operated by the Angres as it was located close to their secondary seat, the sea fortress of Vijayadurg. The coins are extremely rare - they bear a resemblance to the Surat rupees of Muhammad Shah and are an example of 'sympathetic mimicking' to attain the same level of acceptability.
