HIGH CONDITION DELUXE LARGE FRAME BULLARD RIFLE
SERIAL 575. BARREL 28". CALIBER .40-75. . MADE 1886-1890. Arguably, the finest lever action rifles made during that era. There really was no standard model as you could order whatever you wanted but the deluxe versions were shipped with deluxe grain walnut, hand checkered pistol grip stock and fore-arm and then any feature you wanted. This example has the very scarce full octagon barrel with half magazine. The Bullard address is stamped on the left side of frame with caliber stamped on bridge. The frame , along with the lever and hammer are case color. The block is peacock blue. The rear sight has a filler and rifle sports a tang sight with standard bead front sight. Butt plate is blue rifle style. Due to the high price of manufacturing and the special attention to each and every rifle priced them out of the market in less than five years. Condition. One of the nicer examples you will find. Barrel retains 97% blue with sharp edges. There is a wear line where rear barrel sight was removed. The frame retains virtually all the case colors, most still bright. The hammer retains most of its original color as well. Lever shows some color on the sides. Butt plate still retains at least 75% of the high polish blue finish. Most of the screws still have generous blue and only a couple are lightly deformed. The wood is excellent with minor bruising. The bore is mirror bright. It's action is probably the smoothest of it's type ever built. A screamer high condition large frame. Even the dust cover retains virtually all the original high polish blue finish.. The nose cap also retains majority of case colors. ANTIQUE
