SERIAL NUMBER 96504 BARREL 7 1/2" CALIBER .38 RIMFIRE MANUFACTURED 1860. Extremely scarce Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver with believed factory Gustav Young scroll and vine engraving on frame , barrel , loading lever and hammer. Revolver has the later period 3rd pattern Richards Mason Cartridge conversion breech plate that fits flush with recoil shield. Silver drift adjustable front sight and notched hammer rear sight. Varnished walnut one piece grips. Oval trigger guard with left side marked ( CAL). Matching serial numbers. Revolver is cased in deluxe London pattern partitioned case with green velvet lining. Case included Pocket model flask, London type cleaning rod and tools and dual cavity bullet mold. Condition, Very good with crisp well defined period Gustav Young engraving. Revolver has toned to dove grey with little finish remaining. The one piece walnut grips are very good and remain full sized. The bore and chambers are good. The action operates but need a new pawl spring. The case is very good with fine partitions and accessories. The exterior show signs of and earlier polishing. An extremely scarce example of the 1851 Cartridge conversion with factory embellishment. ANTIQUE
