A remarkable series of sketches of Dijon drawn in 1972 let him to develop his talent for color in the warm climate and unique sunlight of Portugal. There and later in Marbella, he gained the opportunity to experiment first with a bright and daring palettte, moving gradually toward refinement and elegant simplification. During these years, he exhibited in Setoril, Cascais, and Lisbon (Portugal), Malaga (Spain) and eventually in Tokyo where his paintings continue to receive an enthusiastic response. In 1975, d'Izarny returned to France to participate in the numerous Paris salons and a major exhibition at the Galerie Laurens. This show was followed by exhibits in Los Angeles, Washington, New York, AbuDhabi, Madrid, Abidjan and Tahiti. As a painter and printmaker, d'Izarny possesses a particular talent for granting mysterious charm to deserted locations - a country road, an old house in a clearing as it emerges from a morning haze, His brush can saturate the images of these places with great poignancy.
