FRENCH BOUNY DOUBLE BARREL FLINTLOCK SHOTGUN
Circa 1800 and produced in Versailles as contemporary to Nicolas Noel Boutet. Right lock marked "BOUNY CONTROLLEUR" while left lock is marked "MANUF VERSAILLES" with elegant 33" 20 bore double shotgun barrels. Varnished checkered semi-pistol grip stock with extremely elegant trigger guard assembly with profuse engraving of spray of floral. A matching polished white metal butt plate with chiseled borders heel extension. This double shotgun is very similar in design to the known example created and attributed to Nicolas N Boutet who was the superintendent of the Armes D' Manufactured at Versailles during this period. Heavy proofs or touch marks remain at top of breeches but are washed from polish and not discernable. CONDITION, Very fine as traditionally European cleaned. An extremely high quality double flintlock from the Golden age of arms manufacture in France. ANTIQUE
