Postley, Nelson & Co. was a company making gun barrels as well as tools in Pittsburgh, PA between 1850 and 1875. Name stamped on barrel. Lock is stamped HENRY ELWELL (LOCKMAKER SENECA OHIO) Features a 34.5" heavy octagon barrel in 45 caliber. Stock is tiger stripe maple. Brass furniture includes an ornate and large patch box, butt plate , trigger guard and fore-end cap. Has simple leaf rear sight and small knife blade front and has double set triggers. Left side of stock has few figures including a star. Set triggers work perfectly. No visible cracks or repairs to stock. Iron is patina. Bore is excellent with strong sharp rifling. Rifle weights 11.4 lbs. Far above average mid 19th century half stock sporting rifle. ANTIQUE
