BAYONET, CIRCA 1800. Cal. approx. 80. NSN. 29 3/4" Overall. Bbl. 14 1/2" oct. to rnd. w/ muzzle flaring to 1.25" w/ Birmingham commercial proofs on left breech, marked "RICHMOND" on top flat, attached to checkered stock w/ 2 keys. Lock marked "R. GILL" w/ bridled frizzen & sliding safety at rear. Attached spring bayonet measures 12 1/2”. Light engraving on bbl. tang, lock, & brass mts. All in all a very attractive gun. CONDITION: very good overall. Brass mts. cleaned w/ light mustard patina. Lock has traces of case color. Iron overall mottled grey/brown w/ staining & pitting. Stock is very good retaining most of its thinning original varnish, scattered dings & dents, sharp edges w/ moderate wear. Bayonet has matching patina, has stamped initials “IM” (probably contractor) & functional catch, locking spring & release spring. Mechanics are crisp w/ clean clear bore. (01-17293/JS).
