Cal. 54. NSN. This is a nice example w/ complete crisp markings in standard configuration w/ 8 1/2” rnd. bbl. marked “U.S.” & inspected on left breech dated 1851 on bbl. tang. Lock has matching date & “U.S. / H ASTON & CO.” forward of hammer & “MIDDtm / CONN / 1851” on tail. Two crisps inspector cartouches are found in stock opposite lock w/ sub inspectors initials. Brass mts. also contain matching sub inspector marks, as does ramrod head. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, appears as found w/ a mottled smooth gray/plum patina w/ staining & light pitting. Brass has mottled light to medium mustard patina. Stock is sound, well fit w/ sharp edges & crisp inspection marks. Mechanically fine w/ frosted smooth bore. (01-17461/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
