Cal. 38 W.C.F. (38-40). S# 299234. Bbl. 5 1/2” w/ blade front sight & V notched frame rear. Mfg. 1907 w/ blued finish. Matching numbered trigger guard & back strap having Colt logo checkered hard rubber grips w/ “4” scratched on back of each. Left front of trigger guard has VP proof w/ 6 at rear. Back of frame below the sight notch numbered “56”, face of cyl. numbered “7” & back of loading gate numbered “15001”. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: February 12, 2013 factory letter lists blued finish, 5 1/2” bbl., 38/40 cal. & stocks not listed. In original shipment of 12 firearms on 9/4/1907 to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri. CONDITION: generally good overall appearance as refinished. Very faint bbl. markings; left side frame marking very clear. Scattered light peppery oxidation & prior light pitting showing mostly on butt & front portion of bbl. Grip area & bottom of trigger guard w/ patina appearance. Newer replacement cyl. pivot. Good timing but compromised ineffective safety notch; half & full cock positions are fine. Noticeably hand worn grips; more wear on right also having brown appearance. Fair to good bore w/ slight wear & cleaned light to moderate pitting. Pivot screws have in the white appearance w/ very slight slot damage. (20-548/NW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
