First European style issue. A proclamation 15th July 1807 gave currency to a double Rupee, Rupee, Half and Quarter and Silver Five, Three, Two and One Fanams. It ordered that they should be coined direct from imported Spanish Dollars. The dies for this coin were prepared in the Madras Mint.
