SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 20645. Bbl. 32" w/ blade front sight & military style graduated leaf rear sight. Blued action w/ "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN USA" & 1876 patent date on left side. 2 Band walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ checkered steel buttplate. Left side of butt has circle "BL" (B. Lyon Armory inspector) cartouche. Iron ramrod. The Borchardt was the last Model of Sharps rifle mfg. 1878-1881, estimated production of Military rifles only 6,900. CONDITION: very fine retaining over 95% lightly worn blue. Lever retains strong traces of case colors. Very good original wood finish showing scattered marks & sm. dents. Crisp mechanics. Bright bore w/ crisp rifling. (01-17345/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,750-3,750.
