1) EARLY EUROPEAN PLUG BAYONET. Overall length: 17 7/8”. Blade length: 12 1/4". Plain blade w/ 17 notches cut in the top. Rudimentary iron cross guard & ferrule. Horn grip/plug. Brass & iron pommel cap appears to be made from an early thimble. Tooled leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray, slightly mottled, cleaned finish. Hilt shows light to moderate wear. Scabbard has a sm. epoxy repair at the tip & the extreme tip of the scabbard is missing. (02-13558/BF). 2) BELT KNIFE WITH BOWIE STYLE BLADE. Overall length: 12 1/2". Blade length: 8 1/4". Plain bowie style blade w/ an exaggerated clip point. Iron crossguard w/ circular terminals. Grip is wood w/ decorative brass & copper rings. Brass pommel cap. Leather scabbard w/ reinforced tip. Knives like this were common sights during the American Civil War & were carried by soldiers of both sides. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina. Hilt generally shows light wear overall. Scabbard shows moderate wear. (02-13563/BF). $700-1,000.
