Cal. 52. S# 35912. Brass mounted 1859 carbines in this S# range are often associated w/ pre war purchases made by the state of Georgia & Confederate association. This example has dark patina & is in "as found" condition. Standard configuration w/ 22" rnd. bbl. w/ Sharps patent markings forward of adj. rear sight. Brass mts. include bbl. band, forestock escutcheon, buttplate, blade front sight, patchbox & rear sling swivel base. CONDITION: good, complete & original. Iron mostly brown patina w/ pitting. Lock markings discernable. Bbl. address is discernable but weak. Model info rear of sight is only barely discerned in part. Mechanically fine w/ well discerned rifled bore having pitting. Overall; has the look of so many barn or attic Confederate relic arms. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Dan Poppen. (01-17319/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
